Planting, for REAL this time

If you couldn't guess by my previous post (about the snow), just let me say that I did not get the tomatoes et al planted this past weekend.

This is a good time to remind you to PAY ATTENTION TO THE WEATHER FORECASTS!

The weather-guessers predicted that we'd have a cold snap and snow.. and darned if we didn't. Because of their warnings and my having paid attention to them, our tomatoes and peppers didn't get planted. Thank you, Weather Underground!

Secondly, let me say that springtime is NOT a good time to go on the injured list. Yes, Mr. Zen broke his foot and did such a good job of it that he had to go and have surgery this past Thursday. Guess who that leaves to run the tiller and plant and so forth. I can do it, but our tiller is a monster. I do not run the tiller... it runs me!

Anyway, barring catastrophe - i.e., "Good Lord willin' and the creek don't rise" - the planting will take place this weekend.

I have called in all my favors at the weather service, did the sun dance, called up the Heat Miser, and done just about everything else I can think of to encourage favorable planting weather for this weekend.

Hopefully, them 'maters will be in the ground before this weekend is over.

On the planting lineup:
Tomato seedlings - several. Over 200. Varieties: Early Girl, Big Boy, Better Boy, Rutgers
Peppers - about 100. California Wonder bell peppers.
Marigold seeds
Cucumber seeds
Green beans. Variety: Earliserve.

Keep your fingers crossed. The tomatoes really need to be planted. The seedlings are HUGE now. Our indoor nursery is starting to look like Wild Kingdom!
