Salicylic Acid Peel? What The Fuzz All About?

Hello visitor! Thank you for taking the time to read this article.

Salicylic Peel:
Salicylic has always been used for various dermatological conditions. It has a very important property of being lipophilic. It is also a superficial depth peels and has a tendency to pseudo frost. It is neutralized using cold water. Salicylic peel can be used in following conditions:
1. Acne.
2. Post acne pigmentation.
3. Keratosis Pilaris.
4. Freckles.
Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA):
TCA 100% is available in crystal form to be diluted in distilled water to achieve various concentration like 10%, 15%, 20%, 30%, 35%, 50%, 70%, and 100%. Depending on the concentration the level of penetration increases. TCA needs to be carefully stored and monitored during the peel application sessions because of possibility of scaring. It forms a true frosted layer after application on the skin. Since TCA gets neutralized by the serum in deep dermal vasculature hence it does not require a specific neutralizer. TCA can be used for melasma, post acne pigmentation, and higher concentration of more than 50% can be used to treat acne scars. TCA 100% can be effectively used for ear lobe repair.
Phenol (88%):
Phenol is a very deep peel which causes tissue necrosis and the healing time is much higher with Phenol. This peel is not suitable for Asian skin type because of danger of scaring. It is currently used in alopecia areata (over the bald patches) for stimulation and proliferation of hair follicle.
Thus with various kinds of chemical peels regulated, specific, monitored tissue damage can be induced to give the degree and kind of skin rejuvenation wished by the client and the physician.
