Easy Hydrating Nourishing Avocado Masks To Make At Home
Avocado has long been known for its many health and skin benefits. Not only is the avocado flesh and oil very moisturizing but also offers many more benefits to the skin because it contains vitamins, fatty acids, protein and lecithin.
It is very good for normal, dry, dehydrated skin and eczema and the fatty acids also help the skin absorb other ingredients that you add to an avocado mask, oil blend or serum.
When avocado oil is added to a homemade serum, it's great for targeting wrinkles and dehydrated skin because the fatty acids deliver nutrient benefits deep in to the layers of your skin.
To make a basic avocado face mask base:
- Add the flesh of one avocado to a bowl
- Mash in 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil, sunflower oil or grapeseed oil with the avocado
- Optionally you can add 1/2 teaspoon of yogurt or milk if you want an extra moisturizing boost
Mix together well until it forms a smooth paste. If you want to keep the avocado face pack in the refrigerator for a couple of days, add 10 drops of lemon juice which will help keep it from going brown (but may dry skin out a little, great for oilier skin).
To this base you can add different ingredients for different skin types, like papaya or pineapple or kiwifruit for a peel like exfoliation, lemon juice or apple cider vinegar for oily skin, or honey, other oils like evening primrose oil for very dry/mature skin.
Honey is another really good ingredient to add to avocado especially for dry skin. If you had oily skin or acne you could add tea tree oil or lemon juice or even apple cider vinegar to target specific problems.
There are also many wrinkle busting ingredients and oils like neroli, frankincense or geramium. If you want to make your own unique recipe based on your specific skin requirements you can use many especially essential oils to add to any recipe based on your skin type or condition.
Alternatively you can make use fresh ingredients in specific quantities in your mask or alternatiely if you don't want to go down the path of using natural essential oils.
As you can see, you can make any unique facial treatment mixture you like with this avocado mask base or use an oil blend using avocado oil, jojoba oil, and grapeseed oil with essential oils added for extra nourishing benefits.
Happy mixing!
