Yummy Edible Moisturizing Face Masks To Nourish Your Skin
If words like chocolate, strawberries, quarg (quark) or lemon sherbert make your tastebuds water then you'll love these homemade edible face mask recipes. The recipes I am about to share with you are not only delicious to eat but also contain many benefits for your skin that you can find in skin care products.
There are many foods that contain natural derivatives of the active ingredients you can find in skin care moisturizers, lotions, facial peels and masks.
If you know which ingredients contain these "active ingredients" you can create your own natural skin care recipes at home that are as good as if not more effective than commercial skin care brands.
If you know what "bases" you can make at home for your skin type (moisturizing, oily skin, red veins etc) you can use these recipes every day to maintain your skin and add specific ingredients to target specific conditions (like cucumber for dark circles or aloe vera for sunburn).
Here are few recipes to get you started - put aside what you need for your face mask and enjoy devouring the rest:
Chocolate Coffee Face Mask
Melt 1 cup milk chocolate and 1/4 cup string brewed coffee together. You can add 1 tblsp of fresh cream if you wish also.
Mix well and allow to cool until warm enough to apply to your skin with our fingertips. Leave on for 15 minutes then wash off with warm water.
Caffeine is great for you skin so this coffee chocolate mask is very nourishing for your skin and tastes delicious too. Coffee stimulates new cell growth and is also an antioxidant. Chocolate offers similar properties.
Ambrosia Pudding Mask
One packet of marshmellows chopped (eat these not for face mask)
Small bottle of cream whipped
2 cup yoghurt
Raspberries, strawberries or other berries mashed (optional)
Mix well and apply to skin - leave on for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse off. This is a very moisturizing face mask for your skin. If you add mashed pineapple or papaya instead of berries it acts as a gentle acid peel removing dead skin cells leaving your skin feeling softer fresher and younger looking.
Pumpkin Pie Face Mask
1 1/4 cups pumpkin puree, canned or fresh
3/4 cup sugar or honey
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon or nutmeg
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup evaporated milk, undiluted or 1/4 cup milk powder
2 tablespoons water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons cream or yoghurt
Blend together well and apply to skin with fingertips. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes and wash off with warm water.
This recipe contains antioxidants and acne treatment properties. You can add tea tree oil if you have acne or lemon juice for oily skin if you wish.
Oatmeal Yoghurt Mask
Cook a bowl of hot oatmeal using milk preferably. Add mashed banana or alternatively use coconut milk for a moisturizing soothing treat for your skin. Apply with fingertips once cooled (best refrigerated for half an hour so its just below room temperature before using) and leave on for 10 minutes then wash off.
This mask is perfect for irritated skin that needs a moisture boost. You can also use refrigerated aloe juice for an extra soothing cooling rinse after washing this mixture off.
You can make almost any kind of treatment or moisturizer for skin at home using natural ingredients to nourish your skin with healing anti-aging and many other benefits.
Once you know how you can create your own skin care products you can create any number of treatments at home to keep your skin looking and feeling wonderful!
