How to: Perfect Base ♡ Perfected Face
Hey there! ☺
I often get questions about how I do my base and why I use this and that and so many products, etc.
So I was thinking why not do a blogpost about how to achieve a perfect base?
Let's hop right in:
- Step 1: Starting with the skincare
Taking really good care of your skin is like the most important thing to do. Makeup can cover skin problems, of course, but it can most often not help them to get better. And to hide some problems may takes a really thick layer of coverage, which is also not that great for your skin because your skin needs to be able to 'breathe' throughout the day in order to stay clean.
Check out my Skincare routine (that post also contains infos for dry skin) for this step!
- Step 2: Primer
Prime your skin to first to smooth it out, hydrate or mattify it and to have a barrier between your skin and your makeup. This will help your makeup to go on a lot smoother, to stay on longer and to keep everything nicer in place.
There are different primers for different problems and skin types. For example, I have oily skin with a lot of texture and prominent pores so for me, primers with silicon are the best since they even out skin texture and fill in your pores.
Primers I love are:
The L'Oréal Nude Magique Blur Cream - this costs about 7-13 €
The Smashbox Photo Finish Primer - costs about 27 €
The Benefit Porefessional Primer - costs about 12-58 € (depending on the size you want to buy)
The Too Faced Hangover X Primer - costs about 30 €

If you have drier skin, opt for a hydrating primer which is not oil-free.
- Step 3: The right foundation
When choosing a foundation, you have to be careful; is it meant for your skintone? How much coverage do you desire? Do you want a matte, a silky or a dewy finish?
The foundations I love for oily skin which are full coverage are:
The Marc Jacobs Remarcable foundation - costs about 45€ (check my review: here)
The Smashbox Studio Skin foundation - costs about 37 € (check my review: here)
The Etude House Concealer BB foundation - costs about 15 € (very limited shade range though)
The Estée Lauder Double Wear Light foundation - costs about 34 €
The Revlon Colorstay oily/combination skin foundation - costs about 10 €
The Make Up For Ever (Ultra) HD foundation - costs about 38 €
The L'Oréal Infallible 24h foundation - costs about 11 €
For combination skin/dry patches which have a medium to full coverage:
The MaxFactor Facefinity foundation - costs about 10 €
The Kiko Liquid Skin foundation - costs about 19 €
The Garnier Miracle Skin BB cream - costs about 5 €
The Chanel Vitalumière Aqua foundation - costs about 44 €
For dry skin:
The Benefit Healthy Mix Serum foundation - costs about 14 €
The L'Oréal True Match foundation - costs about 8 €
The Bobbi Brown Long Wear Even Finish foundation - costs about 44 €
check out my blogpost about my (old) top 10 favorite foundations if you want more infos: HERE (some of them are still my absolut faves!)
If you have normal skin, you can basically use every foundation existing.
But, in fact, if you use the right primer, you can pull off most foundations.
For example, you can use the Re(marc)able foundation with a little drop of oil or a really hydrating primer and it will totally work for you!
Same method for dry skin foundations with a mattifying primer, etc.
